Timothy A. Honquest began Honquest Family Funeral Home with Crematory because he recognized a need for it in the community. A northern Illinois native, he earned a business degree from Western Illinois University and then enrolled in Worsham College of Mortuary Science before coming to Rockford to complete an internship. He never left. Eventually, however, the unpleasant task of sliding sky-high bills across his desk to grief-stricken families dampened his enthusiasm for the funeral business. He had to ask himself what he could do to help those people who were upset over their loss and now angry over the huge bill that needed immediate payment. His answer was to quit his job as manager of a rival corporate mortuary and open his own funeral home.
The funeral service business has been characterized by high costs for years. Families can now receive the same high quality of care they expect for hundreds and in many cases, thousands, of dollars less than the cost at other funeral homes.
After a decade of service to the community, we moved into our Rockford location at 4311 N. Mulford in the fall of 2005. Our second location opened in Roscoe at 11342 Main Street downtown Roscoe, Illinois in November, 2007. We are pleased to offer our families such impressive, beautiful facilities which include large foyers, multiple chapels, hospitality rooms for refreshments and visiting as well as our own on-site crematory. You are surrounded by a fireplaces, fountains, beautiful artwork and furnishings which all create surroundings of comfort.
