Rock Valley College is joining the global effort to stop violence against women and girls by presenting a benefit production of The Vagina Monologues on March 21 – 23, 2013. The productions will be held in the Student Center Atrium on the RVC main campus (3301 N. Mulford Road, Rockford) from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. each night. The productions are sponsored by RVC Student Life and the goals are to raise awareness to stop violence against women and girls, and to raise funds for Rockford Sexual Assault Counseling, Inc. Admission is just $5 and tickets may be purchased in advance at any of these RVC locations: Main Campus (3301 North Mulford Rd.) - Student Center Information Center, Stenstrom Center for Career Education (4151 Samuelson Road) - Student Development office, Learning and Opportunity Center (308 West State Street, Stewart Square) – front desk. Tickets can also be purchased at the door upon availability. Disclaimer: This production features adult content and language that may not be suitable for young audiences. V-Day (www.vday.org) is a global activist movement to end violence against women and girls that raises funds and awareness through benefit productions of Playwright/Founder Eve Ensler's award winning play The Vagina Monologues and other artistic works. In 2012, over 5,800 V-Day benefit events took place produced by volunteer activists in the U.S. and around the world, educating millions of people about the reality of violence against women and girls. To date the V-Day movement has raised over $90 million and educated millions about the issue of violence against women.
