Third Annual Wine & Beer Tasting Event

Start Date: Feb. 13, 2013
Time: 5:00 PM

Subject: RE: Wine Tasting Fundraiser January 18, 2013 Dear Belvidere/Boone County Food Pantry Supporter: Please plan on joining us Wednesday, February 13, 2013, for our Third Annual Wine and Beer Tasting Benefit to be held at the Belvidere Moose Lodge, 575 Beloit Road, Belvidere, Illinois, from 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Pair your favorite wine with your favorite hors d’oeuvres as you network with co-workers, affiliates, and members of the community. As your wine breathes, peruse our fabulous silent auction items, participate in our raffles, or buy a glass of wine and dream of that chateau in Bordeaux…… Not a wine enthusiast? This year we will be adding beer to our marvelous event. Creamy, crisp, dry, full-bodied, dark, light, effervescent, BEER! Hop on over and try some ale or stout, or perhaps an import or microbrew. The Boone County area’s economical position has been on high alert during recent years. In 2010, Boone County was placed on the State of Illinois’ Poverty Watch List by the Heartland Alliance’s Mid American Institute of Poverty in its 2009 Report on Illinois Poverty. As of November 2011, the unemployment rate in Boone County was 11.5% as reported by the Illinois Department of Employment Security. The unemployment rate in Boone County during the recession has risen as high as 22% (only 2 points lower than the national unemployment rate at the height of the Great Depression). The State of Illinois reported that in January, 2012, the unemployment rate for Boone County was 15.5%. The current population of Boone County is approximately 54,165 according to the 2010 U.S. Census; 14,192 individuals are living in poverty. The Belvidere/Boone County Food Pantry was established to serve those underprivileged in the Boone County area. We seek to serve all residents who fall below the poverty level income guidelines as established by the Department of Human Services. The proceeds of this 3rd Annual Wine and Beer Tasting Benefit will be used to feed people who are living in poverty in our County. Tickets for this amazing event are $15.00 each and include 2 glasses of fine wine, all you care to eat appetizers and delicate, tempting desserts. Please contact Linda Clark or Kim Dixon at the Food Pantry for tickets. Either can be reached at 815-569-1571, or via email: or Warmest Regards, Linda Clark Executive Director
